In 1813, Richard Townley, school commissioner, divided the town into twenty-two districts (one more, Sage, was added later), sold the public schools lots, and gave deeds for them.Sage is the the school that was renovated into a home and had a fire just up by Buck Road.
It was a pretty little one-room schoolhouse and if one looks closely one can still see the school inside the northern portion of the home today.
